Blog session 11, English lenguage

Hello classmates, today I must talk about the English class in my university, I like the class and the way it make us practice the language, I think is more practical for people who doesn’t understand get familiar with the phonetically and the expressions, because in English have different ways to express situations like in Spanish. In others classes of idioms I have I don’t use this tool for practice the writing, and in my personal experience work better like a test or writing an essay.
One of the aspects that I must improve in English is the correct use of the verbal times, I’ve already study that, but with the time I forgot it, and that is very important when you must communicate with someone. One way to improve this shortage is do and extra English class or study for my own at home, but if I don’t have the correct guide it turns very difficult to assimilate.
Outside the English class I don’t use the idiom very frequently, because in my nearest circle of friends we don’t have the opportunities to speak in English. I think the most regular activity where I use my English, is when in internet I saw the premier of my favourite series or movies, and the fans don’t translate all ready, so I must understand for my own, and is not very difficult, because from very young I practice my English this way. Other opportunities are when I travel to other countries where the native language and the English are the principal way to communicate, as a tourist is very important to know at least the basic expressions in English, or it must be a hell! But in my personal experience don’t talk the native language is very fun.

Blog session 10, This year

Hi classmates, this year I’m in third year of Art and photography, and it’s very comfortable, because I note an evolution in the way I saw the art and my environment, all in a photography view. In the middle of this year I’ve change of apartment, near the old one in downtown of Santiago, my new residence is bigger, have an extra room for all my things from the university and personal work, and that is very important for me, because I need space to develop my projects.
In this year I don’t remember situations that didn’t go so well, because I don’t really think in bad thinks, just past and life continues.
My personal achievements in 2013 are good grades on the first semester of university, get a new apartment with my fiancé and have a really nice relationship with new friends I made this year.
In the things I didn’t do yet I could mention a sale that I want to do, all the year I was thinking in this project, but I never do it (I think I still have time for do it), but is very hard to try sale my work, because is very difficult to assign a price and every time I see my photographs or other things, I notice conceptual failures or problems in the technique, and that is very disturbing for an artist.
In all the 2013 I have 27 years old, during all my life I always thing when I reach this part of my life it was awesome, but in perspective I could say it was a normal year, with no more achievements or failures, so, life is a routine and for make it interesting you must take risk and do different things, of course always advised for an adult.

Blos session 7, Pizza time!

Hi friends, today I’m going to talk about my favourite food, PIZZA! I really think this is one of the most perfect meals in the whole world.
The origin of the pizza is in Greek. The ancient Greeks covered their bread with oils, herbs and cheese.  An urban legend says Pizza Margherita, was invented in 1889, when the Royal Palace of Capodimonte commisoned to Raffaele Esposito to create a pizza in honor of the visiting Queen Margherita.
In a personal opinion, I really like pizza because you can cook it with a lot of different ingredients, and give varied flavours. When I cook a pizza I tried to equilibrate all the flavours, trying to make perfect matches, like bacon and onion or pepperoni and mozzarella, but in my life experience all the classic topics are the best.
Some scientific studies reveal that the antioxidant Lycopene, which exist in tomato product normally used on Pizza, as having a beneficial health effects. Studies says the people who eat pizza at least one time in the week, have less chance to developing mouth, esophagus, throat or colon cancer.
In Latin-America, Brazil is the country who eats more pizza, having 6000 pizza establishments and 1.4 million pizzas are consumed daily, and that was because a lot of Italian immigrant arrives there, and until the 50’s you can only find pizza in the Italian communities.

Blog session 6, The Ecstasy of Street Photography

This is an article written by Sarah Bakewell, and it was publish in 23th of December 2010. This article start naming several common actions that we can see in the street, but we really don’t pay attention, but for a photographer this details are very important, because we must have the “eye” to notice all the details.

Sarah Bakewell talks about two artists (Sophie Howarth and Stephen McLaren) who make the book “Street Photography Now” who celebrates the controversial art of lurking in public places, and taking candid shots of strangers. This book also coincides with a collaborative online project with others street photographers.

Other point in this article is about the difficulties we can find in outdoors, for example in winter our camera-hand could be burn by the cold air or even a bad light is a real problem when you do photography, but the real challenge is the patience, because when you do street photography you don’t know what are you looking for, Sarah Bakewell says -Those beautiful, quirky moments can pass before you have taken them in, and sometimes you don't realise that you have "seen"-.

Another problem named, is about the problems that can generate this, other people can feel exposed when a strange take a picture of him, some consider it an infringement of privacy.

To close the article Sarah Bakewell talks about experience of other artist in the streets, for example Trent Parke says “The camera helps me to see”, and from my personal experience that’s really true, because we don’t have the same view from our eyes than a lent.

Blog session 4, KungFu

Hi, today I’m going to talk about a very old and traditional unarm martial art, KungFu. This martial art is from China and it required a lot of patience and energy. According to Chinese legend, martial arts had begun more than 4000 years ago, in the Xia Dynasty.

I think I feel this fascination for this topic from very young, because I saw a lot of oriental movies and cartoons, and the martial arts are very common in all stories.  Also always is related to the good guy in the story, and who doesn’t want to be the hero in own life?
Another attractive point is how you can find the inner peace whit your environment and god, leaving the material things behind, because meditation is considered an important component of basic training. Others values are humility, sincerity, courtesy, morality and trust, and that’s very important in the moral formation in a person.

Actually exist a controversy, all the martial art we see in movies and shows are only acrobatic, and the most traditionalist say’s martial arts are a way for meditation and self-defence only.

Blog session 3, Japan

One country I'd like to visit is Japan, in Asia, because they have so much history and tradition, all the pictures I've seen from there are awesome and very attractive. I think the part of Japan I like more are the old castles. For example The Odawara castle was built in the 15th century by Daimyo Hojo Soun, that means the construction is much more older than here in Chile. Other thing I know about Japan is the gastronomy, I’ve been lucky to share some experiences and recipes from there. I really like the products that they use and the way they cook, is very different from the occidental way.

If I go there someday I’d like to do three specific things, first, to go to the Itabashi festival, celebrated in Odawara. In second place I’d like to visit some of the most popular and oldest temples in Tokyo and last but not least important, to have a traditional tempura dinner.

I don’t know if I’d like to live or work there, I prefer to be there like a tourist, is the better way for me to know a different country.
